Since we've reopened the critique folders, we're hoping to get a few new critics and commenters on staff. :)

If you'd like to offer your advice to fellow writers, please sign up. :D We ask that our critics look through our two critique folders, Critique - Poetry and Critique - Prose and leave eight critiques / comments per month.

Critics and commenters are given an admin position as a Contributor. :eyes:

:bulletblue: Critics must always be polite when giving advice. We want to help people with constructive criticism. :bulletblue:

:bulletblue:  Applicants are required to provide at least two critiques they have done before as examples. :bulletblue:

Since you will be granted a contributor position, you're given the opportunity to take part in fun things behind the scenes like picking contest themes and getting to know the rest of our friendly staff.  :D

We look forward to your applications! :la: Thank you!

Here are the guidelines for our critics/commenters:

♦ Each person should critique or comment at least two deviations a week or eight per month.
♦ Each person must post a link to their comments/critiques in the appropriate forum in the admin area so the deviations can be moved and we know you've been keeping up to date.
♦ Please include the :iconwriters--club: icon somewhere in your critique or comment.
♦ Always be polite to members when giving constructive criticism.
♦ Use proper grammar and capitalization when leaving comments and critiques.

Does all of that sound good to you? :) Please message me back and I'll send the invitation out right away! I'll link you to the forum once you're an official contributor since it can only be viewed by admins.

That sounds interesting! Here are a couple I did while I had my premium membership: [link] [link]
They were for photos, but I am equally capable of/interested in critiquing literature! I used to regularly write critique for another dA member's literature and I edited the first couple chapters of her novel for her. Let me know if you're interested in letting me do critique for you guys :)

I only just started doing crits but I would be happy to offer some more were people to ask. I am by nature pretty picky about what a read and don't like critiquing things outside of that niche. It is not a matter of narrow mindedness just simply that I draw from personal experience to give advise and if I'm not familiar to a genre I tend to be less constructive....

Anyways here is my one and only critique (so far) [link]
I enjoyed the experience of reading, evaluating, and writing it so much I figured I would throw my name out there on this thread.

Side question. For management of the critique folder and submitting to the folder; how do we suggest members do so. Should they submit the item twice, once to critiques and once to a category folder? Or will they do so once and we move it upon critique to a category folder.

I ask this as much for myself as for other members as I have posted stuff recently to category folder but have since opened them up for critiques and would like them in the critique folder. Not sure if there are guidelines yet written for this folder. If so it would probably be good for me to memorizes them if I am going to be administering the thing >.>

Members can only submit to the critique folder, not any other folder.

After a deviation is critiqued, either *DrMeh or I will move it into the appropriate folder. That's part of why we have everyone post a link to the deviations they critique in the forum.

As for the matter of moving things, we will move them if the deviant can tell us the specific folder they submitted to and which page their deviation is on. It may seem like a lot to ask, but we have dozens of people asking it takes a long time to check every single folder for every single person. :)

I guess I partly answered my own question by trying to resubmit something to the critique folder and getting an alert message. For my own work I will just unsubmit to the category folder and resubmit to group, but it would be nice to get some type of official guideline written up for these circumstances and added to the others. I personally like the "we move it to a category after doing a critique" idea and noting it somewhere in the crit. This would keep the folder nice and clean and prevent one work from getting more attention than the others.

You could, but there are a lot of benefits that go with being an official critic. :) We try to keep our admins interested and active as well as give them the opportunity to submit a little more often.

Well, see, I've seen a sudden and rapid increase in the amount of activities I've been participating in and need my attention, and as of yet do not know if I have time for any more. I will not take on a commitment I am not able to be committed to, therefore I cannot at this time apply.

You see my problem, yes?

Not sure if this counts as constructive criticism or not: [link]
The longest comment/ critique I've ever written was probably about 2 or 3 paragraphs long (because I listed the actual sentences that needed improvement) , but I typically like to try and keep my comments/ critiques short and address only the major things that need improvement (I don't like to be a grammar Nazi or anything like that).

No, we welcome regular members. :la: Regular members give their feedback, preferably at least a few sentences to advise a writer on how to improve as well as encourage them, via comment. If you could link us to an example or two of a critiquing comment like that, we'd be glad to review it. :la:

Have you written some helpful critiques or comments in the past? :) You just have to link us to the deviation in which you posted them on and we'll review them.

If you don't, we could link you to a deviation for you to critique and we can get back to you based on that.

just post the URL for the page you posted on. Just a simple copy/paste from the address bar will do. It winds up just showing as the [link] thing, except actually linking you to the page you posted.
