Our newest member feature goes to Paige Uhouse, known as ReapersMenagerie here on DA!

She has published the novel Violent Beauty.

The overiew...

"WILL THIS FUTURE BE DIFFERENT FROM THE NEXT?
There will always be darkness and light; good and evil. It's always been that way, but what you think is good or bad may not always be right. Sometimes it's just the opposite.
I've watched the future unfold, searched for escaped science experiments, and that was just the beginning of my fight to save the ones I love and keep the darkness at bay."

Her paperback book is available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

She also offers advice to fellow writers, exclusive to this feature.

"Be organized. I've learned from experience that an outline of the story in general helps keep track of where you're going. So you don't re-read the story and realize it doesn't make sense. (I've done that before)

Really pay attention to your dreams. It may sound a little nuts, but that's where half my stories come from. I'll wake up with a dream, write it down, and then let it grow into something more.

Keep a notebook or something handy. Sometimes little details trigger an idea or a new plot turn. Even inanimate objects might trigger something. (I was washing dishes one night and while washing a steak knife I thought of a horror/murder mystery story.)

And lastly, don't get discouraged if you can't seem to find any inspiration or get writers block. I've found that taking a break is better than trying to squeeze a sentence or two out. Read a book, draw, listen to music, or whatever floats your boat.

Oh and keep your old work. If you really need a laugh, go back a read it, sometimes it can bring you back to the original story you had planned from right the beginning.

I started writing little things on and off when I was between twelve and fourteen and started taking it seriously at about sixteen. I'm twenty now. My first story was about Unicorns in the style of the Warriors series by Erin Hunter...so..."
